I went out to Shearon Harris Monday night and the fishing did not disappoint! I've been pulling crankbaits the last few outings, but this time I decided to switch over to minnows and jigs, as I've had better luck targeting crappie with them. I ended-up catching around 30 fish in about 3.5 hours of fishing. Although I threw back a lot of short fish (they're not in the video), I got a lot of quality keepers, including a few jumbo 12" perch, a nice 14" crappie, and a channel catfish that weighed several pounds. All in all, a great evening out on the water!
In the video, I'm using 1/16 and 1/8 oz red jigheads, either tipped with minnows or black and chartreuse Bobby Garland Stroll'r jig bodies that I slather with Pro Cure Crappie and Panfish Super Gel. I troll 0.9 mph most of the time in 6-9 feet of water, doing my best to follow the contours on my fishfinder and avoid shallower water and snags.
The bite is really good right now and I got multiple doubles and at least 1-2 triple hits. Conditions seem to be best when it's rainy / overcast / windy, as that's when the fish are biting right now. Tight lines, y'all!
