How to Make a Designer Leather Keychain

Skill Level - Novice to Intermediate
Material Cost - (Depends on quality of hardware) I used luxury grade hardware - The concho cost about $10US and the swivel snap cost about $12US
Note - Quality hardware will make all the difference in the world when making a beautiful handcrafted piece like this. You can spend a lot of time making the leather look perfect, but if the hardware looks cheap so will the leather. Make sure everything works to compliment eachother and people will really appreciate your work in the end.
Leather type: For the body of the keychain I used 2.2mm thick vegetable tanned leather. For the decorative tooling I used 1.6mm thick vegetable tanned leather.
Can you use the same thickness of leather for the body and the tooling? Yes, but there is a reason I used thinner leather for the tooled area. 1st, it's less bulky, which comes out looking nicer on a piece like this. 2. It's easier to apply this type of texture to and get a nice result from.
