How To Make A Keyhole Slot With A Keyhole Router Bit, CNC Router Projects

Learn how to use a keyhole bit on your CNC router to create slots for hanging projects. This quick and easy method will have your signs and artwork securely mounted on the wall in no time. The Keyhole bit gives you a way to hang any of your CNC router projects.

If you are wondering how to make a keyhole slot (also known as a t-slot) to hang your CNC router projects, or wondering what a keyhole router bit is, this video explains how to design keyhole slots in your design software (like Vectric Vcarve, Easel, Carveco, fusion 360) and how to set up your CNC router project to cut the keyhole t-slot. An example g-code for keyholes is listed below.

A keyhole bit cuts a slot in the back of your CNC router projects so they can be hung on a wall. The keyhole slot prevents the project from falling off the wall by creating a thinner slot that the screw or other hanging device cannot slip out of.
