Lifting heavy log rounds up to the splitter is back breaking work without a lifter, so I made my own using scrap metal I had laying around.
Rather than the traditional method of adding a separate hydraulic ram and valves/hoses etc, I decided to use the return stroke of the splitting ram to keep it simple and light as I tow the splitter with a quad bike it needs to be light.
I've made a few improvements since filming, I moved the pulley back about an inch to keep it out of the way of the log being split and I added a heavier lifting chain.
