The pocket on the zipper allows you to use the bag very conveniently by putting things you want to use immediately. I recommend a hard type interfacing for the zipper panel. The harder the zipper panel is, the easier it is to open and close the zipper. If you want to make the bottom of the bag stiffer, attach two pieces of pattern J interfacing.
