DESCRIPTION: This video covers the beginning stages of drafting and making a mid-late 16th century silk doublet with a peascod belly shape. The late Elizabethan Era in England and the period throughout the rest of Europe favored this shape for menswear for at least two decades. The style held on for a bit longer in more isolated areas of Europe. This version is meant to be made and worn for Summertime. It has a surprisingly thin construction with stuffing/padding only in the front area where the shape is modified from a natural line.
