How to make a Perfectly juicy SHEPHERD’S PIE | Cottage Pie Recipe | Mansa Queen

Here’s a simple recipe for one oh my favorite childhood comfort foods: Shepherds Pie! The filling can be made in advance and refrigerated or frozen.

Ingredients used

For the meat filling
1lb ground beef (use lamb or mixture of both)
2tbsp olive oil
1 small red onion chopped
1 cup frozen vegetables
1 Cup water/broth
1 Tbsp AP flour for thickening
2-3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
5 cloves of garlic crushed
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 red bell pepper crushed
Paprika powder
Chili powder
Salt/bullion to taste
Rosemary (dried or fresh)
Thyme
Black pepper


For the mashed potatoes
1 1/2 to 2 lbs peeled potatoes
1/2 stick (4Tbsp ) of butter
1/3- 1/2 cup buttermilk/ whole milk/ half and half (add gradually)
Salt to taste
1 Tbsp Garlic powder
Cheddar Cheese to top it up!

Cook the filling per video instructions and please skim off the excess fat. Then, make the mashed potatoes then assemble. Top up with freshly grated cheese and bake @ 375 degrees F for 30 minutes. For a golden brown crust on the top, turn on your broil for 3 minutes and you will get a perfectly golden brown crust. Allow to cool down for at least 20 minutes before serving. This allows the pie to set better!
