Her name is Pintastic Pinwheels! I'm so thankful to my hubby Joe for the name of this Gorgeous Quilt!
She is a custom quilt creation for a lovely client of mine. She wanted a King size quilt for her bed in rich tones of blues and aquas with black fabric for the background. We narrowed the color searches down to using vibrant Batik fabrics and gosh, they are absolutely glorious!
I am not a pattern writer but I hope the following information is helpful. Here are the details of this Pintastic Pinwheels Quilt:
I cut my Kona Black background fabric into 20 - 4 1/2" strips & 40 - 2 1/2" strips.
I cut my Batik color fabric into 20 - 4 1/2" strips & 40 - 2 1/2" strips. These numbers are the total, not from each Batik. I cut a variety of each fabric color.
Each block will use 2 Pinwheel blocks and 2 - 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" Half Square Triangles. To make the Pinwheels, you will need 8 - 3" x 3" HST's. Each block will finish approximately 10 1/2" x 10 1/2".
*There were a Total of 720 - 3" x 3" HST's and 180 - 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" HST's = 900 HST's Total for this King size Quilt!
*As you may know, I am not a pattern writer! ☺️ I create what works for me and I try to pass along a visual teaching method that I hope works for you!
I made 90 blocks and I laid this quilt out 9 blocks across by 10 blocks down.
I added a 4" Black border and binding. The Quilt finishes at approximately 97" x 107".

(Update: I am not a pattern writer but I hope the following is helpful- I ordered a yard of each Batik and there were 10 colors. I believe I have about a half yard of each leftover. I had a bolt of Kona black and there’s definitely leftover of that as well. 😁 I am so terrible at figuring these things out! 😂 That’s why I always order way too much and am not a pattern writer 🤣 BUT it gives me enough for a bonus project Lol I hope this helps a little bit!
