Using wood battens, we crafted a sculpture employing the principle of tensional integrity, commonly known as tensegrity. In this design, all the strings are consistently under tension, giving the sculpture the illusion of levitation.
Tensegrity is a design concept where a non-continuous arrangement of compression elements is counteracted and harmonized by an ongoing tensile force. This results in an internal prestress that stabilizes the entire structure, creating perplexing physics-defying structures that appear to challenge the fundamental laws of gravity
