This is a Cookalong recipe for how to make a McRib.
Ingredients for the McRib:
500g Pork Mince (20% fat)
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon White Pepper
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
Ingredients for the BBQ Sauce:
1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
2 Cups Tomato Ketchup
1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
1 Teaspoon Onion Granules
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon Soy Sauce
1 Teaspoon Worcester Sauce
4 Sub Rolls
1/2 White Onion thickly sliced
4 large Gherkins thinly sliced
Making the McRib:
Mix the 500g of Pork Mince with the Salt, Pepper & Garlic Powder.
Divide in to 4 equal portions and create oval flat burger patties.
To get the distinctive McRib marks, use the handle of a knife all along the burger.
Fry these off for 2 minutes on each side in a medium heat frying pan with a tablespoon of Vegetable/Sunflower Oil.
Transfer to an oven tray and finish cooking in a Preheated Oven to 160c (Fan) or 180c (conventional)
Making the BBQ sauce:
Mix the sugar, tomato ketchup, vinegar, paprika, onion granules, garlic powder, soy sauce and Worcester sauce in a saucepan until bubbling and hot.
Once the burger patties have cooked for between 5-8 minutes, place in the hot BBQ sauce and completely cover them.
Slice open a Sub Roll and place the BBQ sauce covered McRib in the bun.
Top it off with thick slices of white onion and sliced gherkins.
Serve with Thin French Fries covered generously in salt!
Enjoy!!
