#PaintMixingGuide #GelGlossPouringMedium #MinaVillegasArt #acrylicpaint #art Hello My Beautiful People! Welcome back to our Outdoor Studio! Im super excited tonight because we are finally shooting a video you guys have asked for for a while now, How I Mix My Gel Gloss Pouring Medium! I use this pouring medium for all techniques, the only difference is in how much water you add to thin it out, depending on technique. Gel Gloss does several things to pouring medium. First of all, it acts as a binder and binds to the pigments so that your colors don't split or separate and stay to true. It also adds beautiful shine to the dried painting, virtually eliminating the need for additional varnish. I also love the versatility of the gel gloss and how it has performed in every application, from Dutch Pours to heavily textured stencils and every kind of pour in between. If you are able, I encourage you to mix your own pouring mediums and paints. You really get to know your colors and will master consistency and all the intricacies of it. I hope you enjoy this video. I have left the parts where I mix the pouring medium in real time, but have sped up some parts at the end so that this video isn't too long. I hope this answers questions for you, and if you have any others please feel free to ask in the comments. I will reply. Im using Golden Heavy Gel Gloss and American Floetrol, and some tap water from my sink. Im using a cheapie cordless drill that I got from Amazon and one of the beaters from my kitchen mixer. I do not measure. I mix my pouring medium and paints to a consistency that I like to work with, and I encourage you to do the same. Use 'recipes' as guidelines while you find what works for you. Experiment! One last note (and rookie mistake!) When I put this painting down to dry I put it on a box that I thought was level. It was not level, and my paint moved. I went in about half an hour later to put away some things and saw that it had shifted and then moved it to the floor. It still is a lovely painting, and I got some really cool stretched out cells, but I definitely liked the first version better. Make sure your drying surface is level! Music from epidemic sound
