In this mixing tutorial, I will show you how to mix and process sub-bass. Mixing bass can be difficult, and the sub-bass is even more difficult because the low-end is so energetic. This tutorial will show you how to get the bass to sit perfectly in your mix, and allow you to get a tight and fat low-end sound. This is an FL Studio 20 tutorial, but the same mixing techniques can be applied to other daws as well, such as Ableton, Cubase, Studio One and so on.
The kick and the bass are two of the most important elements in your mix. Together they make up the foundation of your song and together they provide most of the energy in a track, and it's therefore very important that these elements are sitting right in the mix. You don't want any problems to occur in the low-end, because that's the best way to ruin your mix. You want a punchy and phat low-end with a lot of impact, and in order to get that your low-end needs to be mixed properly.
