This is a short 30 minute example of one of the lessons on my online art school at www.patreon.com/devinmichaelroberts
. In this lesson I go over how to avoid using pure titanium white paint to lighten color which can result in cooling and desaturation of the colors (otherwise known as a chalky look)
(There have been a few complains that im still using white, the point isnt to not use titanium white at all, its to avoid using pure titanium white to mix your brightest light areas or most saturated colors, you can still mix your own warm white from titanium or use a high tinted opaque light, now days i use michael harding lemon yellow as my modifier to brighten colors which has no white in it at all)
Very important lesson for those who are tempted to just reach for white.
