Here's the first part of a tutorial on how to rig lips in Blender ! Let's start by building the deformation layer and its basic controllers. This tutorial is not for beginners. I try to explain the steps as much as possible but you'll have an easier time following it if you already know the basics of rigging in Blender. This technique has worked for me so far, but I can't guarantee you'll get results similar to those in the tuto. It really depends on your character's anatomy, topology, the weight painting job and the rest of the face rig. I used automatic weight painting in the demo, and the face had support bones preventing the weights from spreading to the whole face. It was kinda hard to decide what to do about it for the tuto as the lips are supposed to work together with the rest of the face rig. I'll probably cover the rest of the face in future tutorials, but in the meantime, you either want bones surrounding the lip area, the nose and the chin, or you can do the weight painting manually instead. I tried to slow the pacing down a bit, but do not hesitate to pause or slow it down if it's still too fast 😅 Constructive feedback is welcome ! I'm still learning and trying to figure out a good tuto formula to stick to. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blender version : 4.1.0 Text-to-speech voice : "Male storyteller" from Capcut. #3drigging #facerig #lips #3dartist #3d #animation #blender
