Usually, it is expected to pay $2–$5 per diameter inch. However, most stump removal companies will have a set minimum price—usually $75–$100—to make it profitable to haul the equipment to your house. If I hire a professional, it may cost me between $400 - $2400. I decided to do it myself to save a few dollars. I bought the farm jack for about $70, the steel chain for about $30, a few large masonry screws & a ratchet socket for $15. The jack saves a lot of hard work!!! This is the video to help if you have a similar situation. This method only works great for tree trunks up to 10 inches in diameter. Best to cut trees and let the roots die before using a farm jack to jack the stump up from the ground.
