You're using darktable, and you need to cull hundreds or thousands of images from a photoshoot? You can do that right inside darktable instead of purchasing additional software like PhotoMechanic to preview and select photos.
darktable has a dedicated culling mode where you can compare images side by side, but I've found that's too slow because it requires moving from mouse to keyboard and back too much. My method lets you keep both hands on the keyboard and move through your gallery quickly and efficiently, reducing the amount of time it takes to find the best photos from your set.
