This tutorial is mainly about fitting a zip inside a tote bag, and showing how I add a tab to the end of a zip. There are many different ways of doing this, but this is the way I think you’ll find easiest.

The fabric I’ve used is one of my Eden panels, the panel measures 150cm x 48cm and is available when in stock from http://www.debbieshoresewing.com.

Materials for the tote bag:

Two 14” [36cm] squares of outer fabric, two of lining and two of Bosal single sided fusible foam, cut a 2” [5cm] square from the bottom corner of each piece.
For the zip panel. Four pieces of outer fabric each measuring 10” x 2.5” [25cm x 6cm]
For the zip tab, one piece of outer fabric measuring 1.5” x 3” [4cm x 8cm]
For the handles, two pieces of outer fabric each measuring 26” x 4” [66cm x 10cm], fusible fleece or interfacing to the same size.
