How to shoot Ice Cold Portraits in Studio | Take and Make Great Photography with Gavin Hoey

If the idea of a frosty winter photoshoot chills you to the bone then this video is for you. Forget about having to go outside on a freezing day, working with numb fingers, and worrying about a shivering model. Instead, you could stay in a lovely warm home studio, get creative with your camera skills and simply make the illusion of an ice-cold photoshoot. Gavin Hoey does exactly that in this photography tutorial. Starting with just one light, Gavin takes you through his three-point lighting setup, one light at a time. Once he’s happy with the lights, Gavin moves on to the color and adds the cold feel in-camera with a custom white balance. To ramp up the effect, Gavin then adds a homemade fake frosty window to the scene. Finally, it's into Photoshop where Gavin shares a simple technique to instantly add a frozen effect to any photo.
