Learn how to sketch various types of buildings and architecture in ink and watercolour with this series of 7 lessons and sketches. In this second lesson, I sketch an old, rustic doorway with a Sakura Pigma Micron pen and a cheap set of watercolour paints. ----- MATERIALS I USED FOR ALL 7 SKETCHES 1. A spiralbound watercolour pad (A4 / American letter size). Cold-pressed (NOT) surface. 2. A travel set of 10 student watercolour pans: lemon yellow, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, Prussian blue, ultramarine blue, sap green, viridian green, yellow ochre, burnt sienna. I use a cheap set by Aquafine that I got from Amazon but any brand will do. Student quality is fine for sketching. 3. A watercolour pen brush. I use a couple of brands during the 7 sketches but I recommend Pentel over all others. 4. A black fine liner pen. I use a Sakura Pigma Micron pen with a 0.5 nib. Again, any brand is fine and a 0.5 nib is just a medium-sized nib. ----- REFERENCE PHOTOS Reference Photo (Courtesy of dimitrisvetsikas on Pixabay): https://art-tutor.s3.amazonaws.com/files/blog/reference-photos/doorway-reference_pixabay_dimitrisvetsikas.jpg My Sketch: https://art-tutor.s3.amazonaws.com/files/blog/reference-photos/old-doorway-final.jpg ----- OTHER SKETCHES COMING UP IN THIS SERIES Sketch 1: Greek Ruins: https://youtu.be/tfTyWt-x7s0 Sketch 2: Sydney Opera House: https://youtu.be/_nBS9iBenDk Sketch 3: Doorway: (this one) Sketch 4: Santorini: https://youtu.be/FE3TbsX_2-Q Sketch 5: Factory: https://youtu.be/ocWRo59w2Xs Sketch 6: Grand Central Station: https://youtu.be/p4mw1QJIlQc Sketch 7: St Paul's Cathedral: https://youtu.be/GWA4YLspGVc Follow Phil's latest drawing program here: https://www.drawawesome.com Join our free community for artists of all abilities: https://www.artkula.com
