This one line minimal approach is so much fun and so fast you can just have a quick play or use the process for a 'warm up' when doing larger pieces. Urban Sketching is popular and fun way to interact and really 'see' your built environment. With minimal equipment you can head off into your place of residence or vacation space and have a very peaceful time sketching and relaxing.
People often look at art and drawing as the whole process and that can put people off from even trying to create. This simple minimal one line drawing idea is not just for beginners but also is ideal for more advanced urban sketchers who would like to create simple pieces as gift or for cards.
You could leave these line drawing as just plain gestural lines, add multi-colours or just do a mono-chrome piece.
Urban Sketching requires minimal equipment and therefore is a very accessible for newbies. It is essentially not only a reflection of your landscape but also what it means to be within the fabric of it. You can include the people, the street furniture and interpret those details any way you want. The sketchbook is a playground. It can also be a very sociable art form with urban sketching groups in most cities.
