Everything you need to know about organizing your stash and how to store your yarn the right way - including many mistakes to avoid. Read the full guide here: https://nimble-needles.com/wool-and-tools/how-to-store-yarn/ Yarn storage box: https://amzn.to/3DTSVd0 (Apparently, IRIS is now selling slightly different boxes in the US with only 2 instead of 4 clasps. The boxes I am using are the IRIS Ohyama 20l - airtight and 4 clasps) *Note: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. But when it comes to the best way to store yarn, there are a couple of things you should never ignore. That's why I always store my yarn in airtight boxes and never leave it out in the open. Here's why: - Prevents bug infestation - stackable - lightweight & see-through - pet & kids proof - no dust - keeps humidity out / no mold I always separate my stash by fiber and organize that yarn according to the material. So there is one box for sheep wool, one for alpaca and so on. And if I have enough of a certain fiber to fill more than one box, I organize things by yarn weight. I don't do it by color as patterns typically don't ask for a certain color but for a fiber/yarn weight. Apart from that, you might consider creating a little catalog of your yarn inventory with the basic information. You could use a simple excel file or use Ravelry.
