The Chinese button knot or Chinese ball knot is knot #599 in The Ashley Book of Knots (ABoK). It was worn as a functional button throughout China. It can either be tied flat or in the hand as demonstrated here. When tied in the hand it is tied in a similar fashion the the diamond knot or knife lanyard knot which it closely resembles. It can also be tied with two cords or strings.
Uses: Functional button for clothing. Could be used as a zipper pull. Can be used as an ornamental knot to finish off a paracord survival bracelet or key fob or other knotted jewelery.
