One of the most frequent questions I get asked is, "How to use a vintage pattern?" Specifically the unprinted kind. Before printing became ubiquitous on sewing patterns around the mid 1950's, the unprinted pattern ruled the market (mainly because McCall's had patented the printing aspect, but that is for another video). Using an unprinted sewing pattern has its challenges, but no more so than the first step: What do all the marking on a vintage pattern mean?

So today, I am going through every large company's pattern that I own and sharing my pattern tips and tricks with you, on how to use an unprinted pattern and why unprinted patterns aren't so scary after all. All of my examples today are either 1930's, 1940's or 1950's vintage patterns.
