There are few compressors revered as much as the Empirical Labs Distressor. This tutorial demonstrates how I use this iconic piece of studio gear to get the best sound out of a vocal recording. You can have the Distressor as a plugin or hardware unit to your studio setup and they both sound amazing on any source material. I am using the UAD version of this plugin, but the techniques will apply to any version of the plugin or hardware.
