Hi everyone! In today's video, I talk about how you can write your own light novel from start to finish. Light novels are a form of short novel which are very popular in Japan. Usually they include not only words, but anime pictures as well. Light novels are much shorter than regular novels. The average length of a light novel is about 50,000 words. They are usually published in bunkobon size which are about A6 size. 10.5cm x 14.8cm. Usually there will be multiple volumes in a light novel series. They usually start off in Japan by being serialized in anthology magazines, before being collected in book form, similar to how manga is. Some popular light novel magazines in Japan include Dragon Magazine and Dengeki Bunko. Light novels follow usual book writing methods, with a few exceptions. Light novels are very character focused, meaning that the stories will normally be told through the focus of the main character. Not only that, but light novels are usually told in first person view, and follow the main character's journey. In this video, I talk about how you can develop an interesting light novel character, and how to write dialogue for you light novel that suits their personality. I also demonstrate the basic plot structure of exposition, a rising action, the climax, falling action, and resolution. You can follow this to help bring your light novels to life.
