What makes for a good mentor figure when it comes to anime and manga? Across many fictional works, one of the most prolific archetypes is that of the “teacher”. Call it a mentor, a guide, a sensei, whatever you see fit. Especially when it comes to shonen, this is an important archetype present in so many stories. But what makes these characters feel like the impactful, knowledgeable role models that they’re supposed to be?
