We spend 90,000 hours of our lives--roughly 1 out of every 3 days on Earth--at work. That's a HUGE amount of time to be spending on something you don't want to be doing. Today I'm sharing with you something personal: my biggest regret. I worked in corporate America at jobs I didn't like with people who didn't inspire me living other people's lives for far too long. And for about 15 years of my life, and it was a recipe for dissatisfaction.
The pivotal moment came when I had a conversation with an old boss of mine who told me he didn't like all the new things I was doing. He essentially said "you can't." If they say "you can't," you say "watch me." Nothing fuels my fire more than the haters, skeptics and naysayers. First they'll laugh and make fun of you, then they'll eventually wonder, "how did you do that?" Instead of letting their doubts crush, you can turn it into rocket fuel.
I'm going to say something that we're not supposed to say in society: I think money is cool, because money opens doors. It gives us leverage. But what if you don't have it? There's one great equalizer you can use to gain leverage today that costs $0, and that's ATTENTION. Attention is leverage. You don't need to be an oil magnate to change the world if you know how to get it, keep it and leverage it.
