(Sorry the first upload of this video got messed up during the export, Boss! Here's a fixed version.)

23 Years ago, Squaresoft's FINAL FANTASY VII put JRPGs on the map for Western audiences, and in the process, helped fundamentally redefine video games as a worldwide phenomenon. But what led to such a revolutionary release? How did it relate to the fracturing of a long-standing working relationship between two titans of the Japanese games industry, Square and Nintendo? And would you believe the game was finished in just over a year?

In this, the last entry in my look back at the 1997 classic, I dive into the creation of FF7: what led Square to enter the 3D gaming space, and how they had to leave behind Nintendo and embrace Sony in the process. Along the way we also discuss the importance of technology by Silicon Graphics, how the game's story changed during development, how FF7 is put together on a technical level, and more! You won't want to miss it.
