Today, with the help of SmartWave, I'm taking a look at the new protocols that are hoping to greatly improve interoperability in Home Automation: Matter, and Thread!
Matter is a protocol for home automation devices to securely communicate with a controller using a standard application protocol on top of existing transport standards like IPv6 and mDNS.
Thread complements Matter by providing an IPv6 transport network based on IEEE 802.15.4, the same low power mesh topology used by Zigbee. It's also derived from the 6LoWPAN standard, if you've heard of that.
