Hulk Hogan was scheduled to face WCW Champion Jeff Jarrett for the title, and Jarrett lay down for Hogan. Vince Russo, the head of WCW creative at the time, tossed the WCW championship into the ring and Hulk Hogan left the arena as champion. Vince Russo returned to the ring, and he cut a scathing promo on Hulk Hogan where it was declared that Hogan would never been seen in a WCW ring again. Bash at the Beach 2000, Vince Russo, and the whole Hulk Hogan situation was one of the more curious wrestling stories of the year. While Russo claims that Hogan and Eric Bischoff were in on the storyline and the whole thing was a “worked shoot”, Hogan and Bischoff beg to differ. The whole Bash at the Beach situation ended up in the courtroom, and Hulk Hogan hired lawyers in an attempt to sue WCW for defamation, breach of contract, lost income and more. In a rare instance of a wrestling storyline ending up in a real court, it became increasingly clear that everyone involved had “worked themselves into a shoot”. The whole Russo vs Hogan saga is covered in this video, along with Hogan’s WCW run in the year 2000. Hulk Hogan became part of the “Millionaires Club”, a faction of WCW veterans who feuded with the “New Blood”. Of note was Hogan’s rivalry with Billy Kidman and the on-screen falling out of Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan.
