In a time of societal and technological uncertainty, the need to humanise education has never been more urgent. In this talk, we explore the potential offered by a lens of compassion. The talk is organised around two approaches: How to teach with compassion and for compassion. Firstly, we look at how teachers can cultivate a culture of compassion which creates a psychologically safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom. In the second half, we reflect on how to teach language alongside the skills of compassion to nurture global citizens who are committed to contributing to a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
