A pump coupling is the element used to connect the rotating pump shaft to the drive shaft of the motor; enabling the motor to efficiently transmit power to the pump. When a pump is close coupled, a separate coupling is not required as the motor is directly mounted to the pump on a single shaft. Today I will be installing a flange type solid sleeve flexible coupling for a centrifugal pump motor used in a chilled water (Also used for condenser Water/Cooling tower pump motors) application for an indirect industrial refrigeration system. Many ask how to couple a motor with a pump and here it is! The sleeve is made of neoprene.
These easy-to-install Sleeve Coupling Inserts help protect equipment from shock, vibration, misalignment, and end float. No lubrication is required. Suitable for a variety of applications including pumps, fans/blowers, compressors, mixers, electric motors, and conveyors. Note: A complete coupling consists of 2 flanges and 1 sleeve.
