Are you ready to take an underwater trip to Pandora from AVATAR?
Tommy takes inspiration from the movie Avatar to design an aquascape, focusing specifically on the jungle and floating hills imagery.
A complex construction process involving a stainless-steel screw bar and rocks create the floating hills. We've used specific tapes to mark the actual front of each rock and ensure they are placed correctly. Small pieces of Lava rocks are used to elevate the back side before the stones are glued together. Glue is used to secure rocks in the design and ensure they don't move. The main frame requires time to dry after being glued together.
Once the structure was done, we added moss to the metal bar to enhance the natural look and added a mix of small plants to create the jungle effect under the floating rocks.
Tommy uses a variety of plants such as Riccardia, Cryptocoryne spiralis 'red', Helanthium tenellum 'red', Gratiola viscidula, Rotala bonsai, Staurogyne repens, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Rotala sp. Pearl, and Flame moss among others.
A movie inspires the aquascape and should be judged as a recreation of the movie's environment rather than a natural scape.
