I built this guitar out of a pallet I got for free. The pallet was over 7ft long and I had to cut it into three pieces to get it to fit in my van. It's all White Oak other than some pine for the bracing. It was fun!
Since some of you are asking, here are some of the inexpensive tools I use for guitars. I do this for fun and I am not wealthy so I try to find the cheapest way to keep the hobby going. I hope this list shows that you can get started without spending all your money!
