The Vietnamese Pond Turtle, Mauremys annamensis, is functionally extinct in the wild. It is a species that we breed here. Never in million years would I have thought that we would produce offspring that look like these. Turns out, not only is the mutation genetic, but it is also dominant, meaning a turtle that looks like this and a regular looking animal will produce offspring that look like this. What a time to be alive!
