In a surprising move Trek has launched its 8th generation Madone SLR and in doing so put the Emonda SLR out to retirement, as it merges its aero and lightweight models into one bike. I travelled to Spain to ride the bike for the first time and to get under the skin of all these changes, the technical challenge and the wider reasoning behind producing a single race bike.
