Hello and welcome back to the Efteling.
This video is about a real life plan to extend Python to make it twice as long.
Python was opened in 1981 and was at that time the longest coaster on the European mainland
It counted 4 inversions, 2 loopings and 2 corkscrews, which was a lot at that point in time.
Due to the massive success of the coaster, Efteling Legend Lex lemmens came up with an idea to extend Python in 1994.
Lex described the extension as such:
"I wanted to make the track more spectacular by cutting it through right after the second loop.
There, the track would dive into the Kanovijver via a camelback, underground through a tunnel
and then flash out vertically in the middle of a shop, and then via a sidewinder horizontally again to a second lift...
The design included a second lift of 40 meters high, after which a drop at an angle of 60 degrees would follow:
again into the ground, many ride effects and where the corkscrew would connect across the siding to the existing Bayern curve."
The design Lex drew was later officially drawn by Vekoma and became known as Python Plus
Unfortunately due to the rising costs the plan for the extension was scrapped,
and instead Villa Volta was built, and later Vogelrok.
To honor the design and plan once made, Here is Python plus, as it would have been, in Planet coaster 2
