I found this 100-year-old antique buffet in a pile of discarded furniture—just one day before the entire pile was intentionally set on fire. Everything else burned to the ground. Somehow, this piece survived. What followed was a 3-year restoration journey filled with hard lessons, unexpected setbacks, and a mystery you may begin to uncover as the story unfolds.
This isn’t just a video about restoring antique furniture. It’s a story about loss, patience, failure, and ultimately, redemption. This old sideboard was infested with bugs, warped by the elements, and missing major structural pieces. I wasn’t even sure it could be saved—but something told me to try.
Throughout this restoration, I faced countless challenges: failing veneer, warped wood, woodworm damage, and even second-guessing the entire vision. And yet, through the mess and mistakes, I found something more meaningful than a final result. I found reflection. Growth. And a strange sense of closure.
In this video, you’ll see a full transformation—part restoration, part repurposing. I use woodworking tools, a planer, orbital sander, pressure washer, and an HVLP paint sprayer to bring this damaged buffet back to life as a functional workshop storage piece. Along the way, I share my thoughts on craftsmanship, imperfection, and what it means to rebuild something that was nearly lost.
Whether you’re here for woodworking inspiration, fire-damaged furniture restoration, or simply a story that speaks to something deeper, I hope this video resonates with you. Thank you for all your love and support! Barry
