I Got Invited To A Vietnamese Wedding 🇻🇳
Happy New Year!This video concludes my bicycle trip from North to South Vietnam.
I traveled a little over 2,133 km (1,325 miles) during this journey. Along the way, I had three flat tires, one broken spoke, and completed the entire trip wearing the famous Vietnamese sandals. I might have even set some unofficial world records in them! No accidents, no physical injuries—just a full range of Vietnam’s extreme weather. Everything was documented on my Strava: Dustin Cheverier
* Longest ride: 256 km (159 miles) near the Cambodian border to Ho Chi Minh City (shown in this video).
* Most elevation in a single ride (and hardest day): 2,779 m (9,117 ft) Video link.
* Total riding days: 21.
* Total elevation for the trip: 19,992 m (65,590 ft).
To answer some of your questions:
1. My dog, Xúc Xích (in the video, pronounced “soup sick”): I’m fortunate to have neighbors who take care of her when I’m away.
2. Why do I wear sandals? The main reason is their versatility—I can cycle and walk in them, they’re lightweight, compact, and can get wet without an issue. Also, I wear size 45-46, which is nearly impossible to find in Vietnam. Carrying extra pairs of shoes would take up too much space on a bicycle.
3. Riding solo: I’ve done many bike trips in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and the USA, and I always prefer doing them solo. It allows me to ride at my own pace and follow my own plans.
