As my first-ever thru-hike, I am embarking on the 2,653-mile (4,270 km) Pacific Crest Trail, a legendary journey spanning from Mexico to Canada across California, Oregon, and Washington. The trail winds through 26 national forests, 7 national parks, 5 state parks, and 4 national monuments, with elevations ranging from 110 ft to 13,153 ft and a total elevation gain of nearly 500,000 ft. This majestic trail crosses over 57 major mountain passes and seven distinct ecosystems. This adventure has been a dream of mine for nearly a decade and is finally coming to life.
Join me on this epic journey as I explore both unfamiliar landscapes and deeper parts of myself. Before setting off, I set a goal to complete this 2,653-mile trail, one of the longest in the U.S, in 90 days or less. A goal that came to inception when the initial reports indicated a low snow season at around 60% of average. Soon after, snow levels surged to over 110% of the norm, promising a formidable challenge, especially through the Sierras. Though my early-season start and ambitious pace made my goal seem increasingly daunting, I was determined to test my limits and see what I could achieve.
