Before Christmas 2024 I was asked to make a wooden box for someone with vision loss. They have advanced wet macular degeneration. The brief was to make something in wood preferably with traditional joinery and with the focus on what can be seen with the hands rather than the eye - in other words where texture is more important than the usual woodworking visuals of grain, timber and so forth
This is the story of making that box and the journey it took me on from the basics to new skills and an appreciation of someone else's experience of things I take for granted.

This video is intended for entertainment purposes only and should not be considered as instructional - there are plenty of woodworkers out there who can do that much better than I can. The temporary nature of the workshop also means that some of my practices could be seen as dubious safety wise but I know what they are and I am fully aware of the risks!!!
