In this video I show off the newest (and oldest!) piece of equipment in my lab: A Scanning Electron Microscope! This is a JEOL JSM-5200 from the late 80s/early 90s. The lab that previously owned the microscope was not able to repair it, and so they gave it to me for free! After months of effort, I managed to repair it. This video is an overview of how a scanning electron microscope works, how I acquired and repaired my own, and some examples of how to use it, and what it can do!
