I traveled solo to Guatemala for two months and here is what I have to share. The perfect backpacking itinerary: Arrive in Ciudad de Guatemala and either stay there for a night or catch a shuttle directly to Antigua (they are directly outside the airport, costs $15) Stay in Antigua for a couple of nights Hike Acatenango Go to Xela From Xela, you can visit Chichicastenango, the biggest market in Guatemala To do the trek from Xela to Lake Atitlan: https://www.quetzaltrekkers.com/xela/xela-lago-atitlan/ At Lake Atitlan, I recommend visiting at least one or two towns around If you like to go to the playa Monterrico and El Paredón are nice. From Lake Atitlan, you can go to Semuc Champey (ask your hostel receptionist what is the best way, or if they have a shuttle) From Semuc Chaampey to Flore - be ready for a long ride. Stay in Flores for one night Camp out in Tikal From Tikal, you can go to Belize or return to Ciudad de Guatemala and fly out to wherever you are going. Let me know if you have any questions. #Guatemala #travel Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dianawanderlust_/
