ℹ️ About this video
Glaze painted pottery was made in the American Southwest between about 1275 to 1700. Pottery replicators have had difficulty recreating this paint using natural materials. In this video I try to recreate lead based glaze paint on replica White Mountain Red Ware pottery. What is the trick to getting naturally occurring galena lead ore to melt into a pottery glaze at the low temperatures achieved in open, outdoor pottery firings? Find out in this video.
