Making a Custom Bass Guitar. #3 If you have any questions, please feel free to comment. I am finally getting to the point in my work where I can easily communicate that I am building an instrument. This instrument has a hollow construction, so it is divided into top and back wood. For the top material, I chose straight grain spruce as per theory. For the back, I wanted to use a soft wood based on my limited experience, and after much consideration, I chose Japanese cedar. I live in Niigata City, and as a result of my research, I consulted with a lumberyard called Shimbataya, and they were able to provide me with the best quality wood. I was able to purchase a piece of wood that was straight grain and had a beautiful shimmering (?) appearance. The wood that can be straight grained at this width is about three times as wide as this.... I easily counted the annual rings and found about 200 years worth of rings, which is simply amazing... Thank you very much. We boldly used it for the back of the one-piece dress. It was the first time for me to have the experience of choosing a piece of wood out of all the available pieces, so I was very nervous, but it was a lot of fun. I felt guilty because I had to carve more than half of the wood into powder, but it was something I wanted to do, so I carved with all my might. There were some design changes along the way, but it turned out almost exactly the way I wanted. Even though I designed it myself, my skills were not good enough, and there were some parts where I had a hard time. To be honest, I think it would be better to make a simpler design and sacrifice some other things. But this baby (Unit 3) is a full course, but it's a bass like a full option. I tried to do as much as I could.
