The old home site out in the woods is a good place to go metal detecting so that is what I did today. With my Fisher F19 I went out back near the rock walls to what was an old pasture and started digging. It did not take long reading the landscape history to see this old abandoned farm had been logged twice, but that is ok because it means more people have been here in the past. Some modern day trash was to be expected but the first good find was an old harmonica, the two reeds actually ....nice ! We know the old place has been deserted since the late 1800s so old stuff is here in the ground somewhere. The coolest find was an old coin under a big rotted log and must have been 8 inches under wow! then up near the stone walls was a nice old relic of a clothing button probably a couple hundred years old. Exploring and searching these old places metal detecting is always a thrill and you just never know what you may discover.
