An excellent test of navigation and figuring out where something is with only a couple of clues is what we did today. I was given a general area of where there may have been a cabin site because stove parts had been found by a friend hiking in the area. So I headed for the hills and bush walked my way through a mile of woods. I was given two clues for this adventure and exploration. A cut tree across an old trail and an ancient rock wall.......it is somewhere in-between these two things.
Well I found it and as soon as I turned on my Fisher F19 metal detector the ground was loaded with nails, cans and other junk. Turns out the cabin must not have been there more than 40 or 50 years by what I dug up and what I could see. But it was a great test of lets see if we can find it and we did. I also got to hike through a lot of old deserted farmland that I had not seen before . This area was abandoned in the late 1800's so reading the landscape history alone was worth the expedition.
