This time I am catching a Calmac ferry and visiting the Scottish island tourists don't go.
Scotland is home to over 700 islands but people tend to flock to the same popular islands such as the atmospheric Isle of Skye or Islay, Scotland's whisky island. However, there are many more islands in Scotland to discover including the lesser-travelled Colonsay and Oronsay.
The Isle of Colonsay is part of Scotland's Inner Hebrides and is 10 miles long by 2 miles wide and has a small population of around 100-150 residents.
You can catch a ferry to Colonsay from either Oban or Islay. However, the ferries run only on certain days so it’s best to check the Calmac website for updated information. It’s also possible to fly to Colonsay from Oban.
