4 of us guy's went ice fishing on Devil's Lake in North Dakota. There were treacherous travel conditions with super icy roads and cars and trucks in the ditch all over the place but we made it safely! We used guide Brian Frank with Angling Quest guide service as we have for about 10 years now. He always puts us on fish, whether it is perch, walleye or northern. He is a great guide with vast knowledge of the area and also guides on open water.
We fished 2 days, the first being below 0 all day and the second day it was about 40 degrees warmer. We did not limit out but had 2 good days of fishing with long lulls in between.
We were using spoons with just the minnow head early for the walleye bite and then switched to small jigs later morning and afternoon for perch! I was using a small buckshot with rattles early and a wonder bread tungsten jig later. It was great fun, as it seemed they would come through and action would be steady and then disappear for an hour at a time.
I tried a tip up after it warmed up and caught a big fish, which I got to the hole as he broke my flourocarbon leader. Oh well, thats why they call it fishing instead of catching! Check back in later with my channel, as we have a couple more coming up. These will be unguided and we will be using all our own equiptment.
Thanks for watching!
