Keenan and I take to one of our favorite remote ponds! This pond is stocked yearly with 7-8 inch Splake, if you're unsure what a Splake is; it is a hybrid of a male Brook Trout and a Female Lake Trout. It is very rare for Splake to spawn or reproduce, but I've talked with a couple people here in Maine that have caught "Native Splake" with pictures to prove!
This pond is not slow what so ever, there's been days when we don't get to eat because of flags, or when the shack doesn't get put up for hours because we're trying to set 3 traps and the flags keep going.
When the weather is a specific way this pond can shut down, but that doesn't stop the flags, it just stops us from landing the fish! In Part 2 you'll see this "slower" day!
I've tried my best to "bleep" out any naughty words so the kids can watch as well!
Take a look at a good day on the pond!
